It is with the greatest sadness that we announce the passing of Glenn Richard Smith in his 79th year, on July 6, 2025, at his home in Parkhill, with family by his side.

Rick was predeceased by his beloved wife and soulmate, Laura Meldrum Smith (August 31, 2022), his parents Cameron and Evelyn Smith, and his sister-in-law Helen Smith.

He is survived by his brother Cameron and sister Mern (Ron) Pinneo, as well as brother-in-law Dave Meldrum. Rick will be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

He will be deeply missed by his cherished fur baby, Bonnie, as well as dear friends Randa, Maureen, and Sally.

Rick was a devoted husband and loyal friend who touched many lives. He loved to travel and was fortunate to do so alongside his loving wife. He enjoyed concerts, the theatre, and plays, and was an avid sports fan — especially of baseball and the Toronto Blue Jays. He also enjoyed hockey and curling.

A passionate bird watcher, Rick set up many feeders around his yard to enjoy their company.

Rick worked for many years at Republic Airlines and also spent time working as a chef. He generously gave back to his community by volunteering with St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog program, visiting many long-term care homes with his beloved dog, Archie.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Olmstead and staff, as well as Rick’s best friend Carolyn and her family, for the personal care and love they gave Rick in his final days.
