Obituary of Maria Ponte

Suddenly on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 surrounded by all her family, at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital Maria Lurdes Da Ponte (nee Melo) at the age of 81. Loving wife of Manuel Da Ponte for 60 years. Beloved mother of John Manuel (Diane) Da Ponte and Maria Fatima (Fernando) Carreiro. Cherished Vavo (grandma) of Catherine (Brian) Pacheco, Paul (Pamela) Carreiro, Brenda Da Ponte, Michael (Donna) Carreiro and David (Tami) Da Ponte. Precious Avozinha (great grandma) Sophia and Joshua Carreiro. Fondly remembered by siblings Manuel (Orcelina) De Melo (Winnipeg), Conceicao (Jose) Carvalho (Brazil), Angelina (Manuel) Viveiros (Winnipeg) and Jose (Ana) de Sousa Melo (Brazil). Dear sister-in-law of Modesto (the late Seraphim) Da Ponte (Strathroy), the late Joao (Eva) Da Ponte (The Azores, Portugal), Hirondina (the late Antero) (The Azores, Portugal) and Adelino (Alzira) Da Ponte (Strathroy). Also predeceased by sister in law Donaria De Melo. Friends will be received at Denning Bros. Funeral Home, Strathroy on Friday, May 13th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm with Vigil Prayers at 6:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at All Saints Church, Strathroy on Saturday, May 14th at 10:00am with Fr. Lucio Couto officiating. Interment to follow in All Saints Cemetery.
