Obituary of Cornelius Rood

In loving memory of Cornelius "Cor" Antonius Rood of Strathroy formerly of Grand Bend, who passed away suddenly in Windsor at Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital in his 86th year. Beloved husband of Catherine "Joan" Monk and pre-deceased by his wife of 49 years Theodora "Dora" Rood (nee Grootjen) (2002). Loving father of Gerard & Sue, Theo & Diane, Paul & Pam and Diana & Dave. Cherished Opa of Tina & Brian; Lianne , Warren & Sherry, Jeremy, Steele; Tim & Jasmine , Chris & Mary , Ryan & Joyce , Michelle and Bradley. Great opa of Caleb & Anna and Owen & Logan. Survived by his sister Trudy Boon and sisters - in - law Jeanne Kelders , Willy Grootjen, Anne Grootjen and 3 brothers and 3 sisters in Holland . Also remembered by Joan's children. Friends will be received on Sunday, May 2nd from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Denning Bros. Funeral Home, 32 Metcalfe Street West, Strathroy with Vigil Prayers being prayed at 1:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 3rd at 10:00 am at All Saints Roman Catholic Church, 142 Front Street East, Strathroy with Fr. Lucio Couto officiating. Interment to follow in Pinery Cemetery, Grand Bend. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph's Hospitality Centre or Make a wish Foundation.
