Obituary of Petronella Dortmans

Peacefully with family by her side on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital, Petronella "Nellie" Dortmans of Strathroy in her 78th year. Beloved wife of the late John Dortmans (2000). Loving mother of Joanne (Tony) Hogervorst, John (Shirley) Dortmans, Harriet (Len) Duynisveld, Marianne (Dale) Donaldson, Jenny (Ed) Verberk, Richard (Teresa) Dortmans, Carol (Bill) Geerts and Lisa (Brian) Allen. Survived by her sisters Gertrude (John) Timmermans, Anne (John) Geerts, Carol (Louie) Kennes, Rita (Frank) VanderKant and her brother Bob (Willie) Peters. Predeceased by her sister Mary (1955) and her brother John (1967). Also survived by sister-in-laws Nolda Bos and Liz Glenn-Dortmans and in Holland, brother-in-law Jan (Mien) Dortmans. Dear grandmother of 29 grandchildren and aunt to many nieces and nephews. Nellie was a very active member of All Saints Catholic Women's League and a Captain of the Heart & Stroke Foundation Canvassing Campaign for Adelaide Township. Friends will be received on Sunday, April 25th from 1-4 and 7-9 pm at Denning Bros. Funeral Home, Strathroy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 26th at 11:00 am from All Saints Roman Catholic Church, Strathroy with Fr. Lucio Couto officiating. Interment to follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
