Obituary of Betty Sutherland

On October 31st, 2020, heaven welcomed a very special angel. Peacefully at Country Terrace, formally of Ailsa Craig, Betty Sutherland (nee Cox) passed away in her 96th year.  Loving wife of the late Roy (2013). Much loved mum of Jim and Elisabeth (Randy). Devoted grandma to 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Predeceased by son Robert (1991), parents Hedley and Nelly Cox, siblings Fred Cox (2018) and Joyce Lovell (nee Cox). Dear aunt, sister-in-law and special friend to many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Betty came to Canada as a warbride in 1946. Born and raised in Luton, Bedfordshire, England. Betty and Roy married in Luton on March 22, 1945 while Roy was on leave from Holland after the D-day invasion. They were a formidable team; working hard for many years in their gentle, simple manner. Betty was kind and compassionate, she embodied the phrase “keep calm and carry on”. She always put family first and was someone you could always go to for a good cup of tea and advice.

A heartfelt thank you for the compassion, care and staff devotion shown to mum by the staff at Country Terrace, Komoka, ON.
