Mary and I wish to express our deepest sympathy to the Felder family, with the recent passing of John. Our friendship started when John was bank manager in Shedden Ont. in the early1970. We lost contact with each other, years later, shopping at the Home Depot a voice from the past called my name. As I turned around there stood John, a little older, sporting a full beard and a big grin. Over the years we remained in contact with our good friends John and Karen…we miss you.
Some people come into our lives and leave footprints on our hearts and we are never, ever the same.

I loved your endless stories of a life that travelled down the most unexpected roads. I loved your willingness to debate almost anything and the fact that I almost always stood on the other side. You were stubborn, yet caring, we’d end most conversations with you checking to make sure I wasn’t offended (I never was). You allowed me to speak - even though I’d never change your mind - you never shut me down. Extra bonus points for having most of our conversations with a glass of wine in hand. I loved you because you were the most important person to someone I love very much and I could see in your heart how much he meant to you as well. I will always be the Michelle to your George. Rest In Peace my dear friend. I take comfort that you’ve been reunited with your love Karen. My deepest condolences to the entire family. It’s hard to lose a loved one but even harder to find closure in these isolating times. My heart is with you all.

I was very sorry to hear of the passing on of Uncle John. We often talked of the fun and the hard work we did on the Felder farm in Rodney. He loved going back to the Lake through the bush on the bug and the wagon ! When he worked at CIBC bank, his family would come to the farm for a holiday . We loved him and I will miss talking to him on the phone or visiting him when we would meet at the Royal Canadian Superstore in Strathroy.

I hope this doesn’t have a character limit as Unlce John had no limits to his character. This man was strong, wise, stubborn, and always had an opinion which he was happy to share. Often prompting a shut up John. I have so many memories of meals, fires countless fires (wood you’re not allowed to burn) wind breaks, golden anything, snoozies, snackies. He would open his home to you made sure you had anything you could need. Some say he had a lot of stuff but that was only so he could give a price of himself to you. His place was an escape a safe place a camping retreat at times.
I am great full for the time we shared. Go on to Orion’s Belt and meet her there I am sure she’s been preparing for your arrival. I could go on for hours talking about this man and his tremendous life.
Thanks for all the memories.
Until we can have drinkies time again.
Love Tim

We did not get a chance to play another game of crokinole here on earth. Many a late night in our younger days. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.

John Felder was one-of-a-kind. He was not afraid to take on a new challenge and he lived in more places than anyone I have ever known. He will be remembered for his love of country music, his talent playing the accordion and organ, and never at a loss for conversation.
It was good to know him.
Condolences to John's entire family.

For some, life is the big house, the big car, the big vacation. For John life was family, family, family.
You could drop in anytime and be welcomed. You were ALWAYS offered a meal. John loved to cook for people. He was happy to argue with Don as to who had the most chicken recipes.
Cats and dogs often found a meal and refuge in the Felder household. Can anyone name all the animals?
The bird feeders always had to be filled. Karen had to acknowledge every variety of bird John saw. The garden had to be planted with much more than they would ever use. Many left after a visit with fresh produce to be enjoyed.
The fire pit had to be lit for all to enjoy. John seemed to have a unending supply of wood.
This was the country living John did not want to move from, the sounds, the sites, the smells.
John, I will miss pulling on your ugly suspenders and hearing you sing “Noreen” to me.
John’s son-in-law, Al Sawdon, summed it up perfectly. John died when his beloved Karen died, but his heart kept on beating. The heart has stopped beating now and our comfort should be that John and Karen are together finally in peace.
Love Always
Don and Nora (Noreen) Holden

Uncle John, possibly the most colourful man I have ever know! Happy to sing noreen to get mom up or to bring a log the size of a large tree to the cottage for an evening fire! Your energy was contagious! I’m sure aunt Karen is happy to have your company but we are sad to see you go. Travel safe, and rest peacefully. Love Mike
