Obituary of Elly Boersema

On April 28, 2009, in her 93rd year, the Lord took to Himself his child, Elly Bos Boersema. Predeceased by her beloved husband Marten Boersema in 1969, she is survived by her children and their spouses, Julie Lindhout (Cornelis), John (Jenny), Doug, Joe (Ena), Rennie Pieterman (Jack), Ralph (Lucille), Attie Sandink (Henry), Jack, Janice Van Dam (Hank), Bob (Nancy), Theresa Bergsma (Talbot), Marcy Vandenbos (Ron), and Nick (Susan), 48 grandchildren and 76 great-grandchildren who cherish their memories of her and the many things she taught them. She is also survived by one of her four sisters, Ietje Hoeksema, and one of her four brothers, Ralph Bos and his wife Coby, and two sisters-in-law in the Netherlands, Jouk Boersema and Jenny Hoving-Boersema (Johannes), and many nieces and nephews and grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. She was well known in the Strathroy area and beyond for her health food business, Elly Boersema's Natural Health Foods, which she started in 1970 after the death of her husband and continued to operate until her retirement in 2000 at age 84. In 2004, she was recognized by the Health Food Association of Canada for her outstanding contribution to the health food sector. The funeral service will be conducted by her son Rev. Ralph Boersema and her pastor, Rev. C. Kleyn, at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May 2, 2009, in the East Christian Reformed Church, 476 Metcalfe Street East, Strathroy, Ontario, with interment to follow at the West Adelaide Cemetery, Cuddy Drive and Wilson Road, Adelaide Metcalfe, Ontario.
