Obituary of Omer Matthys

Peacefully at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital on Monday, December 22, 2008, Omer Cyriel Matthys, born in Middelkerke, Belgium in 1920, passed in his 89th year. Beloved husband of the late Hermenie (1972). Special friend of Verna Campbell. Loving father of Willy (Elizabeth) and Liliane Donck (late Albert 2004) all of Strathroy. Proud grandfather of Roger Donck (Heidi), Lorraine Katsios (Sam) and Colleen Lougheed (Tyler). Great-grandfather of Ryan and Lauren Donck. Survived by his brothers Julien, George and Albert, as well as his sisters Maria, Denise and Yolande. Predeceased by his parents Hector and Alice and siblings Germaine, Armandine, Firmin, Maurice and Remi. Visitation will be held at Denning Bros. Funeral Home, Strathroy, on Friday from 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m with Prayers at 7:30p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in All Saints Roman Catholic Church, Strathroy on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at 10 a.m. with Father Lucio Couto officiating. Interment to follow in All Saints Cemetery. In memory of Omer, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
