Het kwam hart aan te vernemen dat nonkel Gerard is heengegaan
We hoopten dat alles zou goedkomen en hem nog meerdere malen te mogen ontmoeten

We are very saddened by the news of Uncle Gerard’s passing. Our deepest sympathies to the entire family.
It was a privilege and real pleasure to get to know the family in Canada 20 years ago. The (family)life that Uncle Gerard built there is one for which I have great admiration and respect. I therefore cherish very fond memories of that time.... Uncle Gerard was always - with a smile on his face - interested in his loved ones and who did not shy away from hard work. He had a clear vision and insight and it was always interesting talking with him.

A great man is gone.
Gerard was a wonderful friend and excellent farmer. I always appreciated his insight and questions whenever our paths crossed. He was a true gentleman, treating others with respect and trying to both learn from them, as well as impart the knowledge that he had to help them. Agriculture and the entire community will miss him greatly. We are thankful to have known Gerard, and to have learned from him.

We will sorely miss our visits with Gerard and his wise counsel over the years. His wonderful smile, genuine interest and enthusiasm brightened any day. Since they came to the Cameron farm many years ago, he and Trucy accomplished so much through very hard work and good management but, first and foremost, was the family they raised. A mon oncle Gerard. J'avais dix ans lorsqu'il déclara un jour, alors qu'il était de passage chez mes parents, qu'il allait partir pour un stage agricole au Canada. Il a rapidement décidé de s'y établir. Il rencontra ma tante Trucy et fondèrent une famille. Lors de mes 18 ans, il m'invita pour les vacances mais mes parents refusèrent car il y avait aussi du travail à la ferme chez nous. En 2019, arrivé à la pension, il était prévu que je fasse ce voyage au Canada en 2020. Sachant que tante Trucy et oncle Gerard accueillaient toujours avec beaucoup de sollicitude et d'enthousiasme les membres de leur famille qu'ils recevaient. Hélas le Covid joua les troubles fête. Et c'est une autre épreuve qui a pris la suite pour oncle Gerard. Le souvenir de nos trop rares partages lors de ses visites régulières en Belgique ne s'effaceront pas car s'il y a une chose qui caractérisait bien mon oncle c'était son enthousiasme, son sourire et l'attention qu'il portait à chacun. Quelle joie pour tous ceux qui ont eu la chance de le cotoyer. Toutes mes condoléances à ma tante Trucy, ses enfants, petits-enfants et tous ceux qui l'aimaient.
To my uncle Gerard. I was ten years old when he declared one day, when he was visiting my parents, that he was going to leave for an agricultural internship in Canada. He quickly decided to settle there. He met my aunt Trucy and started a family. When I was 18, he invited me for the holidays but my parents refused because there was also work on the farm at home. In 2019, when I arrived at the pension, it was planned that I would make this trip to Canada in 2020. Knowing that Aunt Trucy and Uncle Gerard always welcomed the members of their family whom they received with great concern and enthusiasm. Alas the Covid played spoilsport. And another ordeal followed for Uncle Gerard. The memory of our all-too-rare sharing during his regular visits to Belgium will not fade because if there is one thing that characterized my uncle well, it was his enthusiasm, his smile and the attention he paid to everyone. . What a joy for all those who had the chance to meet him. All my condolences to my aunt Trucy, children, grandchildren and all those who loved him.

Farming was definitely a lifelong passion for Gerard. One of the hardest working individuals I have ever had the privilege and honor to know. He always had a smile on his face and would always make the time to have a quick chat when he saw either one of us outside. The best neighbor one could ask for who married a heck of a woman whom together raised a great family. Gerard and Trucy's personalities can definitely be seen in their children who are all great people which is a testment to their upbringing. Gerards greatest accomplishment is his family. Uncle Gerard was a hard working and loving man that will be sorely missed.
I will always remember him making his rounds to greet everyone (kids) at family gatherings. I will never forget his smile or laugh.
He showed my parents and myself some of his favorites places in Belgium and celebrated his and Aunt Trucy's 45th Anniversary while there.
