As years go by you more and more delve into your past. and so going for details on the time I spent tobacco picking as a student in 1974 in Ontario with the Tony Slegers family I noted the obituary on Tony.
Since his passing away, some 12 years have passed, Nevertheless let it be said that he was a warm and wonderful person. Hail devastating his crop that year he kept his head high and his great sense of humour never left him. And brabander as he was, after each strenuous day in the field Tony invariably strode into our bunkhouse to play cards,drink a few beers (and loose money)
And each morning there was that glorious sumptuous breakfast where we were treated as part of the family. Such warm, good memories. I hope that even now they reach those who were near to Tonay
I will remember him
