Obituary of Roy Sutherland

Peacefully at his home in Ailsa Craig on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 Roy Arthur Sutherland passed away at the age of 91. Beloved husband of Betty (nee Cox) for 70 years. Much loved father of Roy James "Jim", the late Robert "Bob" and Elisabeth Anne "Libby" (Randy). Survived by grandchildren Roxanne, Ryan, Trevor, Mike, John, Daniel, Tyler and eight great grandchildren. Sadly missed by many wonderful extended family and relatives in England. Roy was a veteran of World War ll serving with the First Hussars from London, Ontario. He landed in Normandy on D-Day and fought all the way to Germany to the end of the war. Friends will be received on Friday, October 25th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at T. Stephenson & Son Funeral Home, Ailsa Craig, 519-293-3331 where a funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 26th at 1:30 pm with Reverend David Mitchell officiating. Cremation to follow. Interment in Nairn Cemetery at a later date. A Legion Service under the direction of the Ailsa Craig Legion Branch #422 will be held on Friday evening at 6:30 PM at the funeral home. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Ailsa Craig United Church.
