Dear Anne.l'm so sorry for the loss of your Mom.She was a special lady and I always admired her spunk and independence. I remember that one of the staff told me that I would be like Ila when I became a resident (hopefully not for a few years) and I took that as a compliment. You were very good and caring to your Mom-so be proud of yourself. And the minature rosebush that you gave me on my retirement has grown into a large one-it blooms faithfully . I enjoy it and it always reminds me of your Mom.It was a pleasure to care for her and to get to know you.Sincerely Carolyn Woodburn.

I remember your mother when she was the principal of West McGillivray Public School. I had previously attended a one room public school (SS no18) and I was going to be part of the new centralized school system. I was young, scared, and uncertain of how I would enjoy classes with so many students I did not know. I remember how my anxiety lessened when I saw your mother standing in front of her office, welcoming us with her smile. I never forgot her or the teachers under her steadfast guidance. You have my condolences. RIP.

I am convinced that Ila would say that she has waited long enough for this transition. Her eyes would twinkle and she would smile.
Many years ago, when I was a beginning teacher at North Middlesex District High School, and Ila was principal of the school at West McGillvary, she invited me to address the Grade VIII Graduating Class. Her invitation was an expression of confidence in me, and I have never forgotten that. It meant a lot to me at the time, and I have carried it with me for 60 years.
I extend my condolences to Anne whose presence also brought joy into my classroom and into my birth family in Parkhill.

Dear Anne and Leonard
Thinking of you at this time of loss. Your Mother was very special to me and I often think of the times that I was lucky enough to travel with you and your parents to the East Coast, the West Coast, etc. I also have happy memories of time spent with you at the Farm and at those Grand Bend cottage rentals. She lived a long and full life always with a twinkle in her eyes. When Bob was in Queenston over the Christmas time, we talked about your Mother. Cherish the memories.

Anne and Leonard my deepest sympathy for the loss of your wonderful mother. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Mrs. Hamilton was extremely special to me. She was not only an amazing teacher who inspired us and pushed us to be the best versions of ourselves but she was always very proud of what we accomplished even later in years. My mom Betty and I went to visit her at the home a couple of years ago and she recognized us right away. We shared wonderful memories and even talked about visiting Murray at the liquor store. Mrs. Hamilton touched so many lives and will always be the one I remember who inspired me even to this day.
