Our sincere sympathies to the Telfer families. Helen was such a kind person and always had a warm smile for anyone that crossed her path. Tiny always loved their early morning walks in Ilderton and missed them when circumstances no longer made them possible. Harry loved the Vintage Green band nights playing his drum, with Helen carrying the tune on piano. So many fond memories of an amazing woman. Thinking of you. Harry, Dawna and the Van Boxmeer Family.

I am saddened to hear of Helen's passing. I've been thinking of her a lot lately wondering how she was. I also didn't know that Harold had passed. I last talked to Don when Mom (Laila Ogg) passed away. My Dad and Helen were first cousins and I remember them visiting the farm in Strathroy when I was young. She will be missed. A lovely lady.

You do not know me but a few years ago I was at the chiropractor in Ilderton and I went to the tea room for lunch. I’m not sure whether I looked forlorn or not but your mother invited me to share her table. As we chatted, I knew her brother Harold and wife Doreen and also had heard of daughter Jan who was known for sharing her gift of music at Mosa school and in the community. As a new widow I welcomed her friendship and it brightened my lunch and day. I shall never forget her kindness, you were blessed to have her part of your family. Shirley Cobban Mt. Brydges

To Janice, Rich, and family,
Thinking of you during this time of mourning, reflection and celebration of life, at the passing of your mother, grandma, and great grandmother. She was a women of great faith, kindness, and love for her family. The first Bible study I ever attended was with Helen, Janice, and a few of the ladies from Vanneck Church, back in 1979! What a comfort to know she is in the Lord’s care.

I have many fond memories of Helen Telfer warmly welcoming our family into her home on several occasions & I have a photo of them in our kitchen visiting us. I can still smell the incredible aroma of Bill Telfer’s sugar shack when he took our class out in early spring to show us how maple sugar was made. I remember singing in Bill’’s choir at school & I remember him as a great teacher. The Telfers were a special family, devoting all their time & energy toward their family & their community. I admired them greatly. My sincere condolences to the family

I had Bill as a grade 5 teacher and I was in the triple trio. Our singing group often practiced out at the farm while bringing in the hay. It was always such a wonderful, stress free time. Mrs Telfer treated us like family. Such wonderful memories!

Helen was a wonderful musician. I sang alto beside her in the Vanneck Church choir for many years, and I don't think she ever sang a wrong note. She was funny, warm and always helpful. Helen, with her late husband, Bill, brought so much musical joy to me and my family through all the choir practices and Sunday morning services. I'm sure she's already singing in another choir!
